Journey: My journey into the art of photography began in my early teens, when my eighth grade English teacher, Mr. Kollmann, laid down the foundational principles of photography. With his guidance, I obsessed over capturing religious edifices, which intrigued me by the diversity of their forms, textures, and the visions of those who commissioned the erection of such magnanimous buildings. I aimed for my images to capture the ingenuity of the architects who conceptualized then designed and oversaw the construction of the buildings that continue to fascinate and perplex humanity.
Portraiture entered into the picture when friends and I began to realize that our childhood promises of hanging out together forever was ending with middle school. And with the prospects of high school taking us further apart, in addition to the realization that my family didn’t have pictures to share with their progeny, I actively began to capture images of family members, and friends in an attempt to freeze every special moment, and thus cheat time.
Thus began a life-long passion of image making. In college, it became lucrative with Friday Fashion, when the ladies looked simply majestic, and Saturday events which nobody wanted to miss. My professional development was greatly enhanced by the tutelage of the late Kelly Wise of Phillips Academy, Andover, who at some point was also arts editor of The Boston Globe, and the feedback and encouragement of such formidable storytellers and luminaries as Lou Jones, whose incredible work continues to inspire me. Lastly, it was the business acumen and technical expertise of Adam Lefert, IT engineer, and Jin Wu, AV specialist, Prestige Image materialized in June of 2003.
